Good Ol' Coconut Oil

If you have grown up in an Indian household, you're certainly not alien to Sunday morning tel champi! Cold-pressed virgin coconut oil is the hair remedy that’s perfect for a hair spa day. The elixir of virgin coconut oil mixed with ayurvedic herbs made by our grandmothers is meant to address everything including thinning, hair loss, dandruff, and even dryness. And it works every single time! If you want a profound result of your home hair spa treatment, make coconut oil masks to tackle your hair concerns. To make this process simpler, here's a few coconut oil masks you can DIY at home with modern ingredients that are easy to find. Mix 2 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and apply to dry hair. Make sure to section your mane so you properly cover everything from the root to the tip with the mixture. Follow this up with your regular shampoo and conditioner. Note: It might take two washes to completely get the grease off. The apple cider vinegar acts as a great cleanser while the coconut oil restores your hair with some much-needed moisture and gloss, given its richness in fatty acids. This is a great solution for both dry and frizzy hair.

To improve hair strength, apply a pack of equal parts coconut and olive oil to your head twice a month. Massage it deep into your roots and leave it on for a minimum of 45 minutes before washing it off. The omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants present in this hair mask help restore shine to your mane and prevent breakage.

The Key Is Yogurt

This is one hair mask we'll swear by any day of the week. One of our top home remedies for frizzy hair, you need this divine elixir in your life. Take half a cup of yogurt, add 3 teaspoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix it thoroughly and apply it to your hair, from the root to the tip. Then, wait for an hour while the magic happens. The yogurt has bacterial enzymes which take care of scalp dryness, while locking moisture into the hair and enhancing its natural oils. Honey is rich in emollients which smooth hair follicles and revive lacklustre hair. And finally, olive oil increases hair elasticity which prevents split ends and promotes hair growth. If you have a special occasion coming up, we recommend trying this hair mask a few days prior, so your mane can shine its brightest on D-Day.

Aloe Vera Magic

If your tresses need rescuing, you needn't worry, for Aloe Vera has entered the chat. This super succulent (as we like to call it) has countless benefits for both skin and hair and is perfect for a hair treatment at home. Plus, if you live in a tropical climate, it's very easy to grow at home. Its fleshy leaves contain a gel rich in vitamins, enzymes and fatty acids, all of which lead to healthy, thick hair. Scoop out 2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel and mix it with 1 egg till it forms a paste-like consistency.

Apply it to your scalp and hair, leaving it in for about 30 minutes. The Aloe promotes hair strength, restores moisture and detangles hair (especially helpful if you have curls). The egg on the other hand works to prevent breakage and hair fall.
