Frizz-free summer hair
Here’s how you can keep your hair on fleek in this heat
Summer can spell a lot of trouble for your scalp and hair but taking care of it is easier than you think. The heat can make your hair and scalp dehydrated and make your hair frizzy and brittle which no amount of heat styling will make better. So, you need to hydrate and protect your hair with something that seals in the moisture.
Scalp care
Do not over-wash your hair thinking that it is greasy in the heat as you will take away the important natural oils which condition your hair. You can use cooling DIY treatments such as flaxseed gels or aloe vera gels to calm your scalp and hydrate it. They have antibacterial properties too.
Condition
Don’t skip on conditioning as it makes your hair stronger against heat damage. You can use DIY masks too such as a mix of curd and honey, both of which are great natural hydrators, and curd also solves scalp issues such as dandruff.
Protect
Get your stylist in a bottle with Livon Serum that works hard to banish frizz to give you easy-to-style hair, and no judgment against your hair type! Fight humidity and chase away flyaways or block the harsh sun from sucking out the moisture. This hair serum realigns, coats and shields your hair cuticle for frizz-free, glossy salon-smooth hair that you can experiment with. The lightweight formula enriched with Moroccan Argan Oil extracts and Vitamin E hydrates and naturally irons out frizz for ultra-glossy, manageable hair that is a joy to style into your favourite hairdo. This express pamper session will leave you with frizz-free, glossy hair that is manageable, even on the go.
All about the essence
Here’s all you need to know about Korean essences which are a part of the multi-step K-beauty routine and are loved by skincare junkies
Maddy is always put together. To do a Maddy look, you should have your hair and your makeup done, as she doesn’t settle for either. Her nails are done, and she is always well styled. Maddy is all about the eyes. She plays a lot with hair too.
What is the essence?
Aren’t we all aiming for a clear, dewy and luminous complexion that we so often see our favourite K-pop and K-drama stars boast of? It seems like they know all the secrets to getting juicy skin, and facial essence is a big part of the K-beauty game. No, it’s not a serum or a toner.
Like you would prime your face before applying makeup, facial essences help prime the skin before you use other products. This liquid product is best sprayed on the face so you don’t waste it on a cotton pad. Its light texture is perfect for summer. Essence is a concentrated formula that targets various issues such as fine lines, and dull and uneven skin tones. This will help you keep ageing at bay as Korean essences typically contain an active ingredient that works at a cellular level and improves its cell turnover rate which is skin regeneration. Actives also help exfoliate so it helps make your skin smoother and brighter over time. They might sound potent but are soothing and help hydrate your skin and are formulated at a low molecular weight for maximum absorption. Whatever your concern, find an essence designed for it. It goes before your serum and helps your skin soak it all in better.
They often contain fermented ingredients or probiotics which work at the DNA level of the skin. Concentrated formulas are supposed to be used for spot treatment (with ingredients like niacinamide), whereas lighter options for sensitive skin are made with flower and fruit extracts. You can use it in the morning or night after cleansing your face and applying a toner. Dab it all in with your fingers and follow it up with the rest of your regime.
Use this especially before when you are applying makeup to create a good base for your products because good skin means less makeup.
Top beauty looks from MET Gala 2022
Celebrities had all guns out of their makeup arsenal for the mega fashion event of the year
The theme for the MET Gala 2022 was gilded glamour, an ode to the extravagance in fashion from Gilded Age New York (1870 to 1890). Not everyone followed the memo, but the beautiful looks served by the attendees generated a lot of excitement.
Several celebrities were seen sporting the trendy minimal, dewy look with nude lips. Model Kendal Jenner and actor Maise Williams made their bare-skin-nude lips look edgier by sporting bleached brows. Model Gigi Hadid chose to go deeper on her lips with her glowing natural makeup to match her Versace outfit. Actor Sophie Turner and model Kaia Gerber (supermodel Cindy Crawford’s daughter) made a strong case for loving curls with Gerber making the photographers love her massive waist-length (extension heavy, Gerber naturally sports a blunt bob) curls. Blinged hair accessories were also a thing; Natasha Poonawalla’s Indian interpretation of the theme in a Sabyasachi jewelled headband is one of our top favourites. TV show Euphoria’s presence was also felt with many stars such as musician Alicia Keys, and Fredrik Robertsson making face stickers and art the highlight of their looks. Actor Dove Cameron made her Iris van Herpen outfit look more surreal with water droplet stickers around the eyes.
Here are our favourite, easy-to-replicate looks from the red carpet.
Maude Apatow: Vintage glamour
Maude Apatow made up for all the no-makeup looks she mostly sported in the show Euphoria with this classic old Hollywood glam created by artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher. Vintage curls, delicate kohl-lined eyes with natural-looking fluttery lashes, and deep red lips, Apatow kept the makeup subtle to let her multistrand Cartier multi-strand diamond neckpiece get all attention. What makes this look fresh and Millennial is that Fisher kept her brows brushed and full instead of the over-plucked skinny brows seen on yesteryear actors.
Quannah Chasinghorse: One-and-done shadow
Model Quannah Chasinghorse was the talk of the fashion world early this year having walked for the biggest fashion houses at fashion weeks. For her MET look, Chasinghorse opted for a floaty blue Prabal Gurung dress in blue with matching eyeshadow. Makeup artist Carolina Dalí-Trites added just a little silver highlight in the inner corners and centre of the eyes to open them up. You can also try this trend by opting for a contrast colour wash on your eyes, think yellow eyeshadow with a pink dress. Model Iris Law also used a similar colour combination to match her blue gown.
Paloma
Elsesser:

cut crease
Insta girls have now made cut-crease a must-try look, especially since bright eye colours made a comeback last year. Model Paloma Elsesser perfectly paired her muted corset with a lace skirt by Coach skirt (one of the few stars who got the fashion from the era right), with a muted cut-crease to match. The dark brown shadow in her crease is buffed to merge with the shimmery eyeshadow that covers her lids, and the same colour is used to gently create a corner for the eyes, which was only visible in certain photos.
Bella Hadid: Face-framing braids
Insta-favorite girls like Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid have made face-framing braids a girl's choice for a post. Little did we know that Hadid would end up adding those braids to do a modern take on Gilded Age hair. Use Livon Shake and Spray Serum to keep your hair glossy all the time.
Olivia Rodrigo: Purple haze
Pantone’s Very Peri has now become a fashion favourite, with purples and lilacs becoming a red-carpet hit. Singer Olivia Rodrigo matched her purple Versace number with matching butterfly accessories, sheer gloves in the same colour, and a smoky purple eye.

A debut and a comeback, we look at the amazing fashion finds from two cool new K-pop MVs
You know it’s going to be a video to look out for when it’s a debut or a comeback. K-pop fans were in for a treat last month with two summer dance hits with great fashion to be inspired from. First, before we get into our favourites of the month, no K-pop story can be complete without the mention of the thumping new track of Psy and our very own Suga from BTS – That That. Take notes from Suga’s on-trend animal print shirt which he has paired with light trousers and a jacket. And now for our main #inspos of the month.
LE SSERAFIM’S DEBUT TRACK, FEARLESS
HYBE Labels, who got us stars like BTS have a new band you need to keep an eye out for, Le Sserafim. Their sound and fashion are as unique as their name. The music video gives inspiration for monochrome dressing that is comfortable and glam too. The makeup through the video is minimal with a few diamante stickers under the eyes in some shots.
Tutu skirts and dresses feature more than twice in the video, in the form of punk-inspired dresses, such as a dress worn over a T-shirt. K-pop favourites such as varsity jackets and corsets are present too, showing that they are not going out of fashion anytime soon. Wear your tutu dress with a sleek high bun like singer Kazuha in the video, which is her ode to being a professional ballerina. Face framing braids are seen twice in the video, the bob version on Kim Chaewon being a winning combination. For a cute evening outfit, the video gives a shorty inspo; sequinned shorts with a statement bow top.
Ive’s Love Dive
The music and fashion in this video have made it a chart-topping favourite. Ive delivered it on all points to their fans with their comeback summer track Love Dive and we dived into all the looks they had to offer. The MV starts with a K-pop favourite – academia fashion. Bejewelled clips on sleek hair add subtle glamour to their looks.
The season’s hottest trend, the pleated mini skirt and matching crop top over a skirt or a cropped sweater combination makes a celeb-favorite feature in the MV and then you have your party inspirations with statement sleeve tops, fringed dresses, feather accents, and sequined dresses. The single jewel nail art from the MV is the subtle glam you need in your daily life.
